Darts Golf rules

By , updated

Darts Golf is played over 9 or 18 holes. Hole 1 is played on 1, hole 2 on 2, and so on. As in golf, you count strokes, and the fewest strokes wins.

Each hole is played with three darts at most, and you can stop whenever you like: the last dart thrown is the one that counts. Keep a single or go for better, that's the whole game.

The aim

The fewest strokes over 9 holes. Hole 1 is played on 1, hole 2 on 2, and so on.

The hole

Up to three darts, and you stop whenever you like: the last one thrown counts.

Double: 1 stroke. Treble: 2. Single: 3. Miss: 5.

An example

Hole 4. Your first dart hits single 4: 3 strokes. You could stop. You throw again: a miss, 5 strokes. Again: double 4, 1 stroke. Your hole is a 1.

Variants

  • 9 holes for a short game, 18 for the long version.
  • The scoring changes from one club to another. Bullcast's: double 1 stroke, treble 2, single 3, miss 5.

On Bullcast

Golf comes with Bullcast Complete, and is open to everyone on a Bullcast pub's board. The TV keeps the scorecard, hole by hole.

Questions

Why is a treble more strokes than a double?

That's Bullcast's scoring: the double, the outer ring, is the hole in one. The treble comes next, then the single.

Do I have to throw all three darts?

No. You can stop after the first or second if you're happy with it. But if you throw again, the new dart counts, even if it's worse.

How many players?

From 1 to 8 on Bullcast.
