Around the Clock darts rules

By , updated

Around the Clock goes round the board in order: 1, then 2, and so on up to 20, then the bull. The first to reach the end wins.

A good game to start with, since it makes you aim at every number on the board, and a warm-up for everyone else. Play it on your own or with others.

The aim

Hit 1, then 2, and so on up to 20, then the bull. First to get there wins.

The visit

Any part of the number counts. Until you hit it, you stay on it.

An example

You're on 5. Your first dart hits 5: you move on to 6. The second misses, the third hits 6. You end your visit on 7.

Variants

  • Bull to finish: after 20, you still have to hit the bull. It's Bullcast's default, and you can turn it off.
  • Doubles and trebles that skip ahead: a double moves you on two numbers, a treble three.
  • The dart that earns another turn: if your third dart hits, you throw again straight away.

On Bullcast

Around the Clock comes with Bullcast Complete, and is open to everyone on a Bullcast pub's board. On your own, play it against the practice bot, or with no opponent: Bullcast then counts your darts.

Questions

Does every area of the number count?

Yes: single, double or treble, as long as it's the right number. With the skip-ahead option, doubles and trebles also move you on further.

What's the fewest darts it can take?

Without options, you need 21 hits: 1 to 20, then the bull. 21 darts at best, so 7 visits.

How many players?

From 1 to 8 on Bullcast, or on your own against the bot.
